Our YMCA Awards Level 2 Fitness Instructor course provides you with your first step into a career in the fitness industry. As a CYQ Level 2 qualification, this course will enable you to gym training programmes and understand nutritional strategies and lead group exercise like your own ‘Boot Camps’ and work in all health clubs.

This course is also the first step towards our YMCA Awards Level 3 Personal Training qualification.

 

Who is this course for?

This course is for those who have a desire, passion and motivation for the health and fitness industry. If you are interested in working in a gym, your own fitness studio or as a fitness instructor then this course will give you the knowledge and skills to succeed. There are no entry requirements for this course, it’s open to anyone who’s willing to learn!

 

What’s involved?

Here you will learn how to communicate and support clients/gym users within the gym itself showing off your customer service skills. You will also understand how to design an effective gym programme tailored towards specific clientele combining your knowledge gained from the Anatomy and Physiology and Principles of Exercise modules. You will go away with the knowledge of operating free weights, weight machines, body weight exercises and cardiovascular machines alongside flexibility training techniques.

  • Unit1: Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise.
  • Unit2: Know how to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity.
  • Unit3: Health, Safety and welfare in a fitness environment.
  • Unit4: Principles of Exercise, Fitness and Health.
  • Unit5: Planning Gym based Exercise.
  • Unit6: Instructing Gym Based Exercise.

 

Course Assessments

Throughout your study we will prepare you for the assessments ahead which will ultimately lead to your qualification. For this course, your assessment will take the form of theory examinations, coursework and finally a practical examination.

  • Design specific gym programmes.

  • Enrol on CPD courses such as indoor group cycling, circuit training, gym based boxing, sports nutrition etc.

 

Study options

You can choose the study option that best meets your individual learning style and circumstances. The options to choose from are:

  • 1-2-1 study: A qualified Personal Trainer based at one of our satellite centres around the UK will personally guide you through the course combined with home study and our unique e-learning package. Generally this takes a minimum of 3 weeks. Contact us for more information!

 

  • Blended learning (part-time): A mixture of classroom and gym teaching, blended learning gives you a good mix of practical and theoretical teaching at our centre of excellence based in Machester, plus the ability to qualify in just 3 weekends. Find out more about this study method. Once again your tutor has a MSc in Strength and Conditioning and is an active Personal Trainer himself.

 

  • Full Time: If you want to qualify quickly, and you have the time to commit, then full time could be the study option for you. You will spend 3 weeks Monday-Friday studying in the classroom and in the gym at our centre of excellence based in Manchester. Find out more about this study method.
